Peter Martinez has completed ABC NEWS' first ever digital media fellowship this summer at ABC NEWS Headquarters in New York. Here is some of the work Martinez has done:
One of the best experiences this summer was at ABC NEWS NOW. David Puente allowed me to use my camera skills and field producing experience for his show EXCLUSIVA (Hispanic news in English). I've also contributed to What's the Buzz, Parenting Perspectives, and Faith Matters. Mostly I went out with a camera and did "man on the street" interviews and BROLL footage. I invite you to check out some of these videos: EXCLUSIVARunning of the Bulls: Time honored tradition or animal cruelty? PART ONE - Description I secured the ABC NEWS Digital Media Fellowship from one of the UNITY Journalists of Color alliance partners: the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. As a student member, they send me e-mail updates about special opportunities just like this one. UNITY holds a convention every four years, and this year they partnered with ABC to sponsor four students in the digital departments at ABC NEWS in New York. It includes rotations between abcnews.com, ABC NEWS NOW, and the World News webcast with Charles Gibson.

Georgia Dawkins (National Association of Black Journalists), Huma Khan (Asian Association Journalism Association), Peter Martinez (National Association of Hispanic Journalists), and Paloma Veloz (National Association of Hispanic Journalists) were chosen for this summer's unprecedented digital media fellowship at ABC NEWS in New York.
In June, each student received training at the state-of-the-art ABC NEWS Bullpen. They learned the ABC NEWS workflow with programs like Avid iNews, Newscutter, and Media Manager. They also spent time training with Sony camcorders and non-linear editing video. Here is the practice video Martinez finished after the week-long training at the bullpen:
